Roll forming is a cold forming process in which coiled sheet metal is passed through a series of roller stations that shape it step by step, producing the required profile continuously.
A typical roll forming line consists of a decoiler, a sheet feeding and centering unit, the roll former, a hydraulic cutting unit, a stacking unit and an automation panel. The sheet is bent a little further at each station, so the profile is formed at high speed and with repeatable dimensions without overstressing the material.
Many products, such as drywall profiles, light steel framing members, solar mounting profiles and trapezoidal sheets, are manufactured this way. At Filo Steel, we design and build complete roll forming lines for each of them.
